Harley is Executive Chairman of the Outback Ecology Board and his focus is on the sustainable growth of the company and its employees, promoting the highest level of client satisfaction, and maintaining a competitive and effective consultancy. His science skills focus on tailings decommissioning and mine closure. He co-ordinates projects across Australia in site environmental management, mine closure, tailings research and closure, waste landform design, approvals, audits and rehabilitation techniques. He has contributed to many publications and conferences, and with David Tongway (formerly of CSIRO) led the adoption of Ecosystem Function Analysis as a rehabilitation assessment tool for the mining industry. Prior to forming the company, Harley was Environmental Adviser to Dominion Mining Limited's five mine sites and head office in Perth.
