Terrestrial Invertebrate Fauna

Outback Ecology’s Terrestrial Invertebrate Fauna Group is an industry leader in the provision of specialist advice and high quality terrestrial Short-range Endemic (SRE) invertebrate fauna assessments to the Australian resources sector.

As native invertebrate fauna is protected under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and the Wildlife Conservation Act 1950, it is a requirement that projects within Australia comply with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.

Our highly qualified and professional team has conducted over 75 terrestrial invertebrate fauna assessments in the Pilbara, Kimberley, Great Sandy Desert, Goldfields, Murchison, Central Deserts and South-west regions for clients including BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Chevron, Newmont Asia Pacific and Atlas Iron.

The group is adept at remote area fieldwork, has an in depth understanding of survey design and invertebrate sampling techniques and is proficient at timely and accurate reporting.  All invertebrate assessments are executed in accordance with Environmental Protection Authority Guidance Statement No. 20: Sampling of Short Range Endemic Invertebrate Fauna for Environmental Impact Assessment in Western Australia.
